Spanish Gastronomy

Food is one of the first things that come to mind when people think of Spain. When you're in Madrid you can experience the magic that is the Spanish cuisine, and we want you to be able to replicate this wherever you are.

Below you'll find links to recipes, videos, and social media cooking influencers. We encourage you to explore these and cook up the dish (or dishes) of your choice.

Make your loved-ones a Spanish meal they'll never forget!

If you choose to participate in our guided reflection or if you make any of the recipes through the resources below, don't forget to document your experience and share it with us! Check out the Reflections section of this site for creative options you can choose from to share what you end up making. Also, we encourage you to consider sharing what you make with your Spanish host-family or friends you made at the residence hall.

Check out this video made by a host-mom on how to make her traditional chocolate cake.

In this video a host-mom, Beatriz, and her son prepare relleno de pollo al estillo Rodilla (chicken salad filling similar to the filling in Rodilla chicken sandwiches). Beatriz states at the beginning of the video that this filling can be used to make arepas or sandwiches.

Below you can find recipes provided by Syracuse Madrid host families. They include both Spanish and English translations.
