El Prado

The Prado is undoubtedly Madrid's most famous museum. It has a collection of Spanish and international masterpieces ranging from the 12th to the 20th centuries.

Museo Sorolla

Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla lived here until his death. It has now been converted into a museum which has the rooms filled with Sorollas famous colorful Spanish landscapes.

Thyssen-Bornemisza

The Thyssen was once an aristocratic mansion and has paintings by Dalí, El Greco, Monet, Picasso, and Rembrandt. Some works date back to the Medieval period; others are from the 20th century.

Museo de Antropología

Inaugurated on 29 of April in 1875 during the reign of King Alfonso XII, this museum is considered the oldest anthropology museum in Spain. It contains anthropological items from all over the world.

Reina Sofia

The Reina Sofia, one of Madrid's most famous museums, specializes in 20th-century Spanish art. Here you will find worsks from Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, and other bold-faced names.

Museo Arqueológico

The National Archaeological Museum of Spain contains a variety of exhibits from Spain and beyond, ranging in date from prehistoric to Renaissance time.  Many of the exhibits were removed from churches and monasteries.
